Shipping outside the EU: entering customs data correctly

For shipments outside the EU, Austrian Post needs customs data for every item. PostConnect transmits it and Austrian Post creates the CN23 from it.

Where the data comes from

For each item, PostConnect takes from Shopify:

• HS code and country of origin – maintained on the Shopify product under shipping/inventory
• Description, quantity, weight and value from the order

It is best to maintain the HS code and country of origin once directly in Shopify – then they are pre-filled for every shipment.

Invoices

PostConnect creates commercial and pro forma invoices from the order as PDF. On the Advanced plan, customs documents are generated automatically.
