Shopify returns with an Austrian Post return label
Updated
You handle returns in Shopify as usual. PostConnect creates the Austrian Post return label, attaches it with the tracking number to the return, and Shopify emails it to your customer.
Requirements
- Startup plan or higher.
- A return product is enabled in your Austrian Post contract (Retourpaket Österreich; for returns from abroad an international return product).
- An address used for Shipping & return or Return only in the settings.
- The returns permission is confirmed. Shopify asks for it once the next time you open PostConnect. Without it, the returns page shows “Shopify returns not available”.
How it works
- Create the return in Shopify or approve your customer's return request. For return shipping, choose No shipping required – the label comes from PostConnect.
- Open Returns in PostConnect. The return is listed under Shopify returns with items and return reason.
- Click Create return label & send to Shopify.
The return label only contains the returned items – weight and customs data included. Shopify sends it with the tracking number to your customer, and the return appears under Open returns.
Return status
- Requested – approve it in Shopify first, then create the label.
- Approved – label missing – ready for the return label.
- Label sent to Shopify – done.
Good to know
- If handing over to Shopify failed, click Send to Shopify again. No second label is created.
- If the order was not shipped with PostConnect, create the label via New return label and pass it on yourself.
- Returns from countries outside the EU need customs data. PostConnect takes it from the order. If it is missing, create the return directly from the order.
- Every return label counts towards your label quota. Austrian Post bills return postage to you according to your contract.
