Create a return for a shipment

Updated

Not every return goes through a Shopify return. You can create a return label for any shipment you sent with PostConnect – older orders included. Available from the Startup plan.

Create a return afterwards

  1. Open Returns in PostConnect and click New return label – or choose Create return on the order or in the PostConnect block in Shopify.
  2. Choose the shipment that is coming back. You can search by order number, recipient or tracking number.
  3. Create the label and pass it on: as PDF by email or printed.

For partial shipments every shipped parcel is listed separately with its contents. The return only contains the items of that parcel; parts not shipped yet are not shown. If the order has an open Shopify return, it is preselected – Shopify then sends the label (see Shopify returns with an Austrian Post return label).

Include the return label right away

When creating the shipping label, choose the label type Outgoing + Return (both). Two labels are created: one for shipping and a return label you put in the parcel. Both count towards your quota.

With a shipping rule you can preselect “Shipment and return” for certain countries or shipping methods.

Returns from abroad

PostConnect uses the return product enabled in your Austrian Post contract for that country. If the app reports that no return product is enabled for a country, ask Austrian Post to enable it for your account.

Keeping track of returns

Under Returns you find Open returns and Completed returns with the Austrian Post status. From the menu you can print, download, open tracking, cancel or archive. Create another return for the same order via Create additional return.

Exchanges: replacement items from a Shopify exchange are marked as replacement in the label dialog and get their own shipping label.
